Getting started
Add a host, verify its key and open your first session.
Open Hosts and choose New host.
Enter a name, address and account name.
Pick authentication: the running agent, a private-key file or the password.
Connect and compare the host-key fingerprint with the server. Trust it once or save it.
The tab opens on the login shell. A server that asks for a one-time code gets the extra field automatically.
Motty verifies the host key before it sends any credential. Do not accept a fingerprint you have not compared with the server.
The command palette
Almost everything is a command in the palette: Command+Shift+P on macOS, Control+Shift+P on Windows and Linux. Tabs, splits, SFTP, forwarding and the assistant are all reachable from it.
The full list of default shortcuts is in the shortcut reference. All of them are configurable.
Next
- Hosts and authentication: groups, tags, import and the vault.
- The terminal: tabs, splits, search and images.
- SFTP and SCP: move files without another app.
- Assistant: Ask and Agent modes.
